The organizations we visited differ from La Connexion, it is ETSS. The main focus is not teaching English. not only helps students do homework but also serves as a children's center. To my mind, these organizations are social institutions. then we visited Glanwood community center. We helped students to do their homework in math, English, drawing. we played basketball with them and we danced together. Hera they are:

The session was photo journalism.we talked about diversity and the differences in cultures. the students came to the university and we talked to them , introduce ourselves to each other. we discussed with them the diversity wheel and talked about the differences between cultures , we moved out to take some photos and try to make stories about them and emphasis the concept of diversity after that we went  back and choose a photo , write a caption to it then share it to the group. Here is my picture and capture.

'Students are standing disconnected from each other at the BGSU. I think it is " the death of conversation" or may be they just filling the gaps between conversations. This is unfamiliar for me and for my country, Georgia.'

Today in Access technology I learned how to create a video using movie. And upload to the blog.

We have very interesting workshops. Thank you Mark.

Much discussion about diversity focuses on the following forms of marginalization: race, class, gender, and sexual orientation — and rightfully so, given the importance of these forms of difference.

The Diversity Wheel

photo journalism
Photojournalism is a particular form of journalism, that employs images in order to tell a news story. It is now usually understood to refer only to still images, but in some cases the term also refers to video used in broadcast journalism. Photojournalism is distinguished from other close branches of photography. Photojournalists create pictures that contribute to the news media. The images combine with other news elements to make facts relatable to the viewer or reader on a cultural level.Like a writer, a photojournalist is a reporter

12:00 Technology session 3
The first session was with Kemprly  ,about methodology we answered some questions about teaching then  revise TESOL methods and talked about  the communicative approach. After that- the technology session first we had a new experience about the carecut machine, popplet and plickers. Then we stated to make our project on the google drive as slides  and at the end we went  and saw the 3D printer.
Agenda:

  • Cricaut  Machine Demonstration
  • Popplet
  • Google Presentation
  • Plickers
Plickers.com - This is the best way to assess studentsPlickers lets you poll your class for free, without the need for student devices. Just give each student a card (a "paper clicker"), and use your iPhone/iPad to scan them to do instant checks-for-understanding, exit tickets, and impromptu polls. Best of all, your data is automatically saved, student-by-student, at plickers.com.

we stated to make our project on the google drive as slides  and at the end we went in a tour and saw the 3D printer

The idea of creating architectural models to convey ideas has been around for ages. Now, with 3D printing technologies, models are easier to create, more affordable, more accurate, and have a higher level of detail than ever before.

2:30 Technology session:

  • qr code
QR is short for Quick Response, they can be read quickly by a cell phone. They are used to take a piece of information from a transitory media and put it in to your cell phone. You may soon see QR Codes in a magazine advert, on a billboard, a web page or even on someone’s t-shirt. Once it is in your cell phone, it may give you details about that business

  • wordle.net
Using Wordle
  1. Write some text, like an essay or an article.
  2. Select all of the text and then copy it to the clipboard.
  3. Click on Create your own.
  4. Paste the text.
  5. Either use a screen capture program to obtain the Wordle as a graphic Or save the Wordle in the public gallery and use the code provided in your blog or web page.

Wordle can be used by the teacher as a means of assessment. Ask a pupil to create a Wordle of her presentation, and use that as the basis for a discussion, rather than the presentation itself. Wordle is also good for summarising survey results where the survey uses free text fields. As an example of this, I wanted to find out the composition of the readership of my newsletter, Computers in Classrooms.   However, entering all the answers into Wordle enabled me to see at a glance what the composition is. That in itself is a good feedback mechanism, because I can tell straight away whether my attempts to meet the needs of my target readership have been successful.
Iincorporating Wordle into our classroom lessons is quick and easy! They can be used in all curricular areas, and are great for promoting critical thinking skills in our students.
There are a lot of fun and interesting things we can do with Wordle lessons in the classroom. Challenge our students to come up with some uses of their own, and remember that Wordle is not the only word cloud generator out there.

community project connect

is a one-day, one-stop event designed to provide hospitality and access to services for everyone in BG community.   Some  providers are  present and  offer many valuable services, including coats, hats, boots; health screenings; dental care; hot meals; haircuts; job help; mental health services; substance abuse;….and more!  The event was helding on Wednesday, October 19, 2016  from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 315 S. http://www.bgsu.edu/
The second day was full of activities we stated our day with the technology session we discovered new things such as blogs. we had the chance to create this blog. I use it a lot with my students.I'm already familiar with it. they like and create their own blogs so they can post different things. I'm sure that this blog is going to be a wonderful opportunity to share a lot about Service Learning.

I am not alone in this experience. Trainers can help to answer any of the questions or concerns I may have. They can guide my response to difficult or uncomfortable situations. In addition, they are always happy to assist me with any questions or concerns I may be having.
I think service-learning preparation from yesterday prepare me for my experience. So yesterday we discussed what is service learning, service learning standards for quality practice, IPARD Cycle.

La Conexion

Sherry told us about her students, when we go there we already know about them.  it helped us, because we had  background information about  students in La Conexion. when we visited La Conexion, we teach a real beginner level student, who is doing a great attempt to learn. Students were  a little shy to see so many different people at a time. The teacher actually used a combination of old and new teaching strategies to suit the needs of his learners since all of the learners were migrants who are struggling to learn and use the language communicatively in a faster way as much as possible. The teacher used the audio-lingual method, total physical response and communicative approach. The delivery of the lesson was done step by step in an organized manner that students can easily follow until the time that students are already using the target language effectively.
.

Hello everybody,

I am grateful that I attend the professional development workshops based at U.S. institutions for non-native English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers for the duration of two weeks under the English Access Microscholarship Program (Access).

I can say- to teach well we need not say all that we know, only what is useful for the pupil to hear.  And give them something to do, not something to learn, and the doing is of such a nature as to demand thinking, learning naturally results. A teacher professional career never stands still. There are always new ideas about English teaching or a new group of students to get to know or new course materials to work with. My goal is to continuo process of looking for ways to deal with new challenges and improve my performance as a teacher of English.
The first day of our workshop was an introduction we have some activities at the begging. We discussed what service learning means while I was doing the survey I found out that we will learn a lot of new things and terms .  I like was the rules to communicate with others we had a great discussion together and come up with  rules . we dicussed definitions of service learning , civic engagement and community service.
